About Us
"I know what it feels like to be a runaway. I know what it's like to be rejected and living on the street. I know what it feels like to be sexually assaulted, and the desperation you can feel when you want to learn but don't have the access. This is personal."
It was a sunny morning in July of 2000 in the Bronx. A woman was constantly reflecting on the blessing that it was to be in America, to have healthy children who go to school, and to be able to work. Along with the immense feeling of gratitude, she felt a deep longing. She had not forgotten where she had come from and what she had gone through.
Beatrice Nkumsah's strong desire to pay it forward by helping the voiceless women, children and families in Ghana gave birth to a mission. Survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault, the needy, and the uneducated must have someone advocating and fighting for them. We must save the generation of our time. This desire birthed Morning Glory Center Ministries, now Morning Glory Center Foundation, Inc.
Since its inception, Morning Glory has shipped three 40-ft and one 20-ft container full of donations, including over 5000 pairs of shoes, more than 2500 articles of clothing and countless toys. We have also sponsored several children to go to school, advocated for the disabled communities in Ghana, and donated medical and general supplies to various hospitals around Ghana. We also helped establish a library in the Ashanti Region.
